Saturday, August 21st from 5 to 8pm – The 4th Ever Denver Handmade Homemade Market at Green Spaces, located
at 1368 26th Street in the River North Art District.
At the 4th Denver Handmade Homemade Market, in addition to incredible handmade sourdough bread and organic chai, homemade deodorant and soap, vegan and gluten free pastries and dinner food, hair cuts, bicycle tune ups and so much more; you can also take part in the unveiling our second alternative currency, called “Dough”, which we will phase in over the next two markets. Dough will be traded for goods throughout the market in an attempt to redefine our relationship to money and rethink the conversation about why our currency is the way it is. While trading Dough is good, we also encourage bartering at this market. We are all producers!
We will also, for the first time, be asking for an entrance fee. We are asking you to bring something of value, something that you value that others might value as well – think about it as a POTLUCK! These items will be put on our shared community vendor table and serve as your entrance fee. People will then be able to trade Dough for these items, the money from which will go to supporting the market. We really want to encourage everyone to play an active role in this community and to help us realize that we all have something of value to offer. If you forget to bring something to share we will be asking for a suggested donation of $5. Everyone entering must become a member to keep us legit, but don’t worry, when you enter with your item to share or your suggested donation, the membership comes with it. But of course, no one will be turned away.
Tuesday, August 17th at 7pm – We will be launching the Denver Relocalization Project, a workshop and discussion series dedicated to highlighting alternative ideas and practical solutions for Denver. Green Spaces will be host to Arthur Brock, internationally recognized expert on alternative economies and currencies. Arthur will be leading a workshop and discussion on how we can use currencies to incentivize positive change in our community and how we can rethink our economic paradigm to better fit with our current reality.
September 3rd from 6 to 9pm – Also join us for the 1st partnership between the Denver Handmade Homemade Market and First Friday Art Walk in the RiNo District at Green Spaces to celebrate local artists, producers, and consumers.
Thanks everyone for being with us, we’ll see you soon!
